We know the transfer process can be nerve-wracking, but we want to put your mind at ease with the SUNY Plattsburgh Transfer Guarantee. Students who meet and maintain GPA and eligibility requirements can rest assured that their admission will generally be guaranteed.

- GPA Requirements
GPA is calculated across all colleges and universities attended. SUNY Plattsburgh recommends a 2.30 cumulative GPA for guaranteed admission to most programs. However, some majors require a higher GPA to be guaranteed direct admission. For example:
- RN-to-B.S. nursing and social work programs require a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- All education programs require a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for The SUNY Plattsburgh Transfer Guarantee, transfers must meet the following requirements:
- Submit the SUNY Plattsburgh Transfer Guarantee interest form.
- Apply by March 1 for fall admission, or by November 1 for spring admission.
- Provide college transcripts from all previously attended colleges by March 15 for fall admission, or by November 15 for spring admission.
- Submit all application materials requested by Admissions by April 15 for fall admission, or by December 15 for spring admission.
- Additional eligibility requirements may apply.

- Applicants with Prior Disciplinary Dismissals
Applicants who have been dismissed from a college for disciplinary reasons will be required to submit additional documentation and will be reviewed by a standing committee. The purpose of the campus committee is to review appropriate information and decide whether an applicant with a disciplinary dismissal from an institution of higher education should be admitted.

The following conditions must be met in order to be guaranteed admission to SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury from SUNY Adirondack:
- Complete an A.A. or A.S. from SUNY Adirondack by the time of transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury
- The criminal justice and human development and family relations programs requires a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA.
- Confirm your intent to enroll at SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury by the mid-term of your final semester at SUNY Adirondack

The branch campus allows SUNY Adirondack graduates who have obtained their associate’s degree, and are interested in staying in the Adirondacks and Capital District region, the ability to earn their bachelor’s degree in a convenient location with flexible course offerings.

The Clinton Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh dual admission program provides an exciting opportunity for students to seamlessly transfer from two-year to four-year degree programs. Students who wish to be considered for this program will complete the Clinton Community College admissions application and answer “yes” to the question “Would you like to apply to the dual admissions program with SUNY Plattsburgh?”
Benefits of the dual admission program include:
- Seamlessly transfer from Clinton Community College to SUNY Plattsburgh
- Submit one application to be reviewed for admission at both institutions
- Application fees and admission deposits do not need to be paid to SUNY Plattsburgh
- Your official Clinton Community College transcript and admissions records (e.g., application, transcripts, test scores, etc.) will be shared with SUNY Plattsburgh with no fees attached
- You will be assigned an admissions advisor at SUNY Plattsburgh to assist you while attending Clinton Community College
- You will have the same priority registration as current SUNY Plattsburgh students
- You will have access to program advisement at both campuses throughout your time at Clinton Community College
The following conditions must be met in order to be guaranteed admission to SUNY Plattsburgh from Clinton Community College:
- Complete an A.A. or A.S. from Clinton Community College by the time of transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh
- Achieve a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.0*
- Confirm your intent to enroll at SUNY Plattsburgh by the mid-term of your final semester at Clinton Community College
- Give Clinton Community College permission to share your official transcript and admissions records with SUNY Plattsburgh
*SUNY Plattsburgh programs with higher GPA requirements and/or additional conditions, including the following:
- All teacher education programs require a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- RN-to-B.S. nursing and social work programs require a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.
- The social work program requires an additional application to the department for admission to the junior-senior professional program.
- The criminal justice program requires a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA.
- All majors in the School of Business and Economics require a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA.
- Dual Admissions does not apply to liberal arts transfers seeking admission to SUNY Plattsburgh’s nursing program. Students completing an associate’s degree in nursing who wish to complete their bachelor’s degree can be considered for the online RN-to-B.S. nursing program at SUNY Plattsburgh.
