Welcome to Cardinal Country
We’re delighted you have decided to continue your academic journey with us. We strive to make your transition to the SUNY Plattsburgh community as seamless and stress-free as possible. We’ve assembled some resources that will be helpful to you as you transition to the campus and settle in.
Resources for Transfer Students
- Logging In & Getting Started
Your NetID is your gateway to all online services at SUNY Plattsburgh. Watch for information about your NetID, your @plattsburgh.edu email, and its importance.
- MyPlattsburgh Portal — Logging into the MyPlattsburgh portal provides access to a wide range of university resources, including your email account (be sure to check it since this is how we will communicate with you about important issues). The portal has links to important campus services.
- Brightspace — All online courses and many on-campus courses require you to access course materials on the SUNY Plattsburgh learning management system Brightspace. If you cannot log into Brightspace, contact the Helpdesk at 518-564-4433 or email [email protected].
- Online Learning resources are available if you need help.
- School of Business and Economics Online — Resources curated for students in the School of Business and Economics online programs (but helpful for all online students!)
- Campus Life
No matter where you are, being a SUNY Plattsburgh student gives you opportunities to expand your world. Many campus events can be accessed in-person and online. Living on one of our campuses or nearby is a great way to meet people and fully engage with all that SUNY Plattsburgh has to offer!
- Campus Housing and Community Living — Apply to live in our Transfer Community to connect with others who are new to campus, or take a leadership role as part of our Campus Housing and Community Living team.
- Campus ID Cards — Get your ID to access residence and dining facilities, the Fitness Center and more. It also holds your Cardinal Cash, a pre-paid debit system.
- Meal Plans — Select a meal plan that works for you or check out other dining options to catch a bite to eat while you are on campus.
- Discover SUNY Plattsburgh — Find key buildings on campus, access a campus map, or take a Virtual Campus Tour.
- Parking on Campus — Don’t forget your hangtag!
- Cardinal Link — Sign up for Cardinal Link to search for events that interest you. Watch your campus email for other opportunities and events.
- Queensbury Branch Campus Resources — A collection of resources to help you answer your most common branch campus questions.
- Financial Aid & Paying Your Bill
Student Financial Services will help with all of your financial aid and billing concerns.
- Financial Services for Enrolled Students — Understand your financial aid package
- Paying Your Bill & Payment Plans — Learn about tuition bill timelines and how to enroll in a payment plan.
- Orientation, Registration & Preparing for Classes
Orientation events are offered prior to each semester, giving you a chance to meet other students, department faculty, and people who can support your journey. The Admissions Office and Registrar’s Office can answer questions about your transfer credits. Your department chair or advisor will help you select the courses that are right for you.
- Opening Week Information — Updated prior to each semester.
- Advisement and Registration — Registration resources including how-to access Banner and a list of department chair contacts. Check with your chair or advisor for a PIN if required. Additional information about registration, including addressing error messages and how to clear holds, can be found on the Registrar’s Office webpage.
- Transfer Course Credits — Find out more about credit equivalencies and credit by examination. We are committed to making your past credit count!
- Degree Works — Our degree audit tool so you can check exactly what you need to complete your degree or credential. Your advisor is listed here!
- University Catalog — Review program requirements and degree maps to plan your path.
- Campus Store — Access the Campus Store for a list of your course textbooks and materials. Purchase books in-person or online. Pick up some Cardinal swag while you’re at it!
- Academic Calendar — Check when classes start, when we are in or out of session, and important registration dates.
- Academic & Career Success
You are surrounded by a community of people who can guide and assist throughout your time at SUNY Plattsburgh. You can Request Help through our Cardinal Star network or contact one of these services.

- Learning Center — The place for tutoring and academic coaching. Ask about online options.
- Feinberg Library — Access vast online and physical resources. Get help from a reference librarian.
Accommodations & Specialized Support
- Accessibility Resources Office — Contact for access to accommodative or disability services you may need.
- Veteran and Military Services — Assistance for military affiliated students, including answers to questions about using the GI Bill.
Advising & Registration
- Academic Advising — Need help figuring out your next step? The staff of the Academic Advising Office can direct you to your advisor and a wealth of other resources.
- Registrar’s Office — All things related to course registration, clearing registration holds, graduation and transcripts. Registration dates and forms for adjusting your class schedule are found here.
Career & Internship Resources
- Career Development Center — Search for internships and employment; make an appointment for personal consultation about career goals and skills.
- School of Business and Economics Office of Internships and Career Opportunities — Students in the SBE can find additional assistance in setting up internships
- Health & Safety
- Student Health and Counseling Center — Provides access to physical and mental health care. Connect directly for free, real-time professional counseling 24/7 through the Student Assistance Program; call or text 1-800-327-2251 or access the BHS portal, username SUNYPlattsburgh.
- University Police — Browse our safety resources, report an incident and request a safe walk from a student ambassador.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion — Resources available to address diversity related concerns and discrimination.
- Title IX Office — Support, resources and education to address and prevent instances of sex discrimination, harassment, and violence within the university community.
