"A Proud Past, A Strong Future"

President and Leadership

A Message from President John Ettling

Since the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh opened its doors as a normal school for the training of teachers in 1889, the faculty and staff have dedicated themselves to providing a strong educational foundation for our students.

From the close interaction with faculty members to the facilities on campus, students at Plattsburgh have many invaluable resources available to them. Internships, work experiences and study abroad programs offer students exciting opportunities throughout their college careers. We strive to provide all our students with an educational experience that will lead to rewarding and successful careers.

I challenge our students to commit themselves to excellence. SUNY Plattsburgh transforms the lives of its students as they seek to discover their fullest potential, in and out of the classroom. Our caring and experienced faculty and staff are here to support our students as they make this journey.

Our motto, 'A Proud Past, A Strong Future,' is as appropriate today as it was 25 years ago. Alumni have graduated from Plattsburgh and become successful in their careers and standouts in their communities. We are an immensely proud institution - proud of our faculty, staff, students and alumni - and I am sincerely honored to be the 10th president of SUNY Plattsburgh.
