Executive communications and media relations for SUNY Plattsburgh are coordinated through the Office of the President. The office serves as the university’s primary point of contact for members of the news media and provides strategic communications support on matters involving university leadership, institutional priorities, crisis response and issues affecting the campus community.
Media & Press Relations
The Office of the President coordinates SUNY Plattsburgh’s media relations and distributes official university press releases.
Members of the media should contact Heather Haskins, chief of staff and director of executive communications, with questions about SUNY Plattsburgh or requests to interview, photograph or record university faculty, staff or students.
Campus employees should also contact Heather before responding to a media inquiry or seeking university media coverage.
Crisis & Emergency Communications
The Office of the President coordinates crisis communications and official university messaging during emergencies, incidents and other situations that may affect the campus community or the university’s operations and reputation.
For immediate assistance during an emergency, contact University Police. Additional preparedness and emergency-response information is available through the Office of Emergency Management.
Presidential & Executive Communications
The office develops and coordinates presidential and executive communications, including:
- Presidential speeches, remarks and messages
- Official university statements
- Leadership announcements
- Communications concerning institutional priorities
- Responses to sensitive or emerging issues
- Coordination with SUNY System Administration and other government partners
