Dr. Li-Jen (Chase) Chen


Assistant Professor of Accounting

Dr. Chase Chen is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at SUNY Plattsburgh. He joined the University in the fall 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in accounting (2023) from Drexel University, his master’s degree in accounting (2014) from University of Pittsburgh and his bachelor’s degree in accounting (2009) from National Taipei University. He holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license from Pennsylvania (currently inactive).

Dr. Chen was an external auditor for Big 4 accounting firms in Taiwan and U.S. He was in audit teams of multiple public multinational corporations. He was also an internal auditor for corporations in China and Philippines. 

Dr. Chen’s research interests are global group audits and multinational corporation behaviors, and Foreign Corrupt Practice Act (FCPA) violation. His teaching interests include auditing, financial accounting, taxation, and managerial accounting.

In his spare time, Dr. Chen likes to participate in volunteer work. He is a tax preparer of IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). He is also a volunteer at Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. Dr. Chen is an enthusiast of outdoor activities. He likes to play sports, such as tennis and biking. He also enjoys hiking and car camping.
