Dr. Evans Adu
Assistant Professor of Accounting
Dr. Evans Adu joined the Department of Accounting as an assistant professor in Fall 2025. He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from Florida International University. He also holds a Master of Accountancy from Georgia Southern University, a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Tampa, and a Bachelor of Science in Administration (Accounting) with First Class Honors from the University of Ghana.
From 2023 to 2025, Dr. Adu served as an instructor at Florida International University, where he taught Accounting for Decisions. His professional experience includes roles as an Associate at PwC in Tampa, Florida, and as a Portfolio Analyst at Petra Trust Limited in Ghana.
Dr. Adu’s research explores topics in information economics, accounting conservatism, and audit quality, using advanced archival methods. His recent publication has appeared in the peer-reviewed journal Accounting & Finance.
He has teaching interests in financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, and data analytics. Committed to student success, Dr. Adu is also passionate about mentoring and promoting diversity and inclusion within the accounting profession.
Dr. Adu is a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA). Outside of academia, he enjoys watching basketball and cooking traditional Ghanaian cuisine.
