We offer high-quality and affordable undergraduate and graduate accounting programs, supported by the AACSB-accredited School of Business and Economics (SBE), with flexible modalities including both online and on-campus options.
You Will Be Prepared for an Exciting Career
Our undergraduate and graduate accounting programs are designed to prepare you for a wide range of successful careers in accounting and analytics.
By completing our Bachelor of Science in Accounting program, you will be eligible to sit for the New York State Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination. The program offers the flexibility to add various minors or a second major in business administration, allowing you to customize your education to suit your interests.
Our online Master of Science in Accounting program focuses on two rapidly growing fields: accounting analytics and forensic accounting. This program is CPA-150E licensure-qualifying in New York State. Completing this graduate program, along with its prerequisites, will fulfill the educational requirements for NYS CPA licensure.
Additionally, we offer an innovative 4+1 B.S. in Accounting/M.S. in Data Analytics program, which is available both face-to-face and online. This program is also CPA-150E licensure-qualifying. Upon graduation, you will be well-prepared to pursue other professional certifications, such as CMA, CIA, CISA, and CFE, or to attend other graduate schools for advanced degrees.
Emphasis on Hands-On & Career Preparation
The School of Business and Economics has its own Office of Internships and Career Opportunities to guide you through the internship process, help with resume writing, job interview prep and more. SUNY Plattsburgh’s Career Development Center will support you before and after graduation to ensure your access to the largest alumni network and career opportunities.
We have placed many graduates in internships, IBM co-op, and job opportunities with prestigious accounting firms and business organizations. Many of our students and graduates have landed internship positions and joined well-known corporations such as IBM; large accounting firms such as Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, and Grant Thornton; and other national, regional, and local CPA firms. In the past 25 years, nearly 120 SBE students and recent graduates have participated in co-op experiences at IBM, many of whom were subsequently offered full-time positions at the company.
We also sponsor the Annual Tax Internship Program, a partnership with the IRS and our local AARP Tax Aide, where our qualified accounting majors help families and individuals from the surrounding communities file their taxes electronically free of charge.

Our faculty are dedicated academic advisors to our students. We offer you a personalized course schedule from the beginning to help you succeed in achieving your educational and career goals. Students in our online programs also have the benefit of a dedicated support team to make sure you can manage class load and your busy personal schedule.
Plus, small class sizes (25-30 students) allow you to actively participate in class discussions and ask questions in a friendly, supportive environment.
