We offer a high-quality and affordable Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in accounting program, supported by the AACSB-accredited School of Business and Economics (SBE), with flexible modalities that include both online and on-campus.
You Will Be Prepared for an Exciting Career
Our accounting programs — on campus or online — allow you to sit for the New York State CPA exam right after graduation with 120 credits. You’ll be ready.
And, after earning your B.S. in accounting, you may seamlessly transition into the one-year M.S. in data analytics and satisfy the educational requirements for CPA licensure of 150 credits. This strong 4+1 B.S. accounting/M.S. data analytics combined program can be completed 100% on campus or online via our nationally ranked online program. Our program is equipped with the technological tools to empower your decision-making skills, aligning with the industry trend and exceeding the CPA Evolution Model Curriculum requirements.
Options & Flexibility
Expand your marketability by adding a double major in accounting and business administration by taking no more than nine additional credits — that's only three 3-credit courses!
If you are interested in working for law enforcement agencies such as the FBI, government organizations or private firms such as insurance companies, add our forensic accounting minor and be well prepared to take your certified fraud examiner (CFE) exam. These skills are in high demand.
Our B.S. in accounting, B.S. in business administration and forensic accounting minor are all offered in person and online.
Emphasis on Hands-On & Career Preparation
The School of Business and Economics has its own Office of Internships and Career Opportunities to guide you through the internship process, help with resume writing, job interview prep and more. SUNY Plattsburgh’s Career Development Center will support you before and after graduation to ensure your access to the largest alumni network and career opportunities.
We have placed many graduates in internships, IBM co-op, and job opportunities with prestigious accounting firms and business organizations. Many of our students and graduates have landed internship positions and joined well-known corporations such as IBM; large accounting firms such as Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, and Grant Thornton; and other national, regional, and local CPA firms. In the past 25 years, nearly 120 SBE students and recent graduates have participated in co-op experiences at IBM, many of whom were subsequently offered full-time positions at the company.
We also sponsor the Annual Tax Internship Program, a partnership with the IRS and our local AARP Tax Aide, where our qualified accounting majors help families and individuals from the surrounding communities file their taxes electronically free of charge.

Students in our online programs also have the benefit of a dedicated support team to make sure you can manage class load and your busy personal schedule.
Plus, small class sizes (25-30 students) allow you to actively participate in class discussions and ask questions in a friendly, supportive environment.
