Dr. Andrew Christy

Assistant Professor of Social & Personality Psychology

I joined the SUNY Plattsburgh faculty in 2020 after two years as a visiting professor at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Prior to that, I completed my Ph.D. in Social & Personality Psychology at Texas A&M University. I grew up in the rural community of Easton in Washington County, a couple hours south of Plattsburgh, and I earned my B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo. Accordingly, I’m very excited to be back in upstate New York and to be a part of the SUNY faculty — and on top of that my mom and uncle are both Plattsburgh alums! When I’m not teaching or working on research, I enjoy playing and listening to blues, folk, and old-time music, outdoor activities including hiking, camping, and canoeing, cooking and baking, and spending time with my cats Hank and Willie!
