Sigma Tau Delta — The English Honor Society


SUNY Plattsburgh’s English Honor Society is the Alpha Iota Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society.

To be eligible for membership in Sigma Tau Delta, you must be an English major, an English minor, an English/adolescence education major (B.A./M.S.T.) or a childhood education major with an English concentration. You must have a 3.0 (B) grade point average both overall and in your English courses.

Sigma Tau Delta is a nationally recognized sign that you are a good student, so it shows employers that you are smart and hardworking. This feature along draws many students to join Sigma Tau Delta every year. 

Every year, there are openings for president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Becoming an officer enhances your resume. 

Participate in Memorable Activities


The SUNY Plattsburgh chapter of Sigma Tau Delta meets weekly for fun activities to relieve stress and bring the English community together. It also hosts special events like readings and dodgeball.
