Payroll Information for Students
Your Responsibilities

Use the Career Development Center’s program, Handshake, to find available on- and off-campus jobs

Once you have been offered a job by a department on campus, and prior to beginning work, submit your work study or temp-service appointment form to the payroll office

New student employees must complete all new hire paperwork provided by payroll services and present original proofs of identification prior to working

Report actual hours worked on each time sheet

Direct deposit is mandatory for all student employees

Ensure that you follow all campus employment regulations and NYS labor laws
- Verification of Personal Payroll Information
Student verification of personal payroll information is done online at www.suny.edu/hrportal.
- Click on Human Resources Self Service.
- Verify your date of birth.
- Click on address. If address is correct do nothing.
- To change address: select the bubble > click update > change address > submit.
Verify Your Payroll Information
- Click on View Paycheck.
- Verify your date of birth.
- Verify Items in red.

Student Supervisor Policies
Please view the supervisors guidelines for detailed rules and regulations. Upon review of the supervisors guidelines, supervisors need to complete the Student Supervisors Acknowledgement Form and submit it to payroll services.

Active employees can reprint their W2 through the NYS Payroll Online System.
Work-Study Policies
Students may qualify for work-study positions on campus by filing the FAFSA application as close to Oct. 1 as possible, indicating an interest in work-study on the application, and meeting the financial need criteria. Awards will be made to eligible students until the budget is exhausted.
