Psychiatry & Medication Management

The Student Health and Counseling Center supports students by offering medication evaluation and ongoing medication management services. Prescribed medications can play a key role in treatment by helping to reduce symptoms and preventing relapses of behavioral disorders.

The Student Health and Counseling Center staff encourages all students who have a prescriber at home to maintain that relationship! We cannot guarantee that you will have access to our psychiatrist, so it is important that you continue medication management through your provider at home.

Psychiatry Services

The center offers limited psychiatric evaluations. If you think you need psychiatric medication management, you must see a counselor or medical provider in the center who will arrange for your psychiatric evaluation this may include evaluation by our in-house psychiatrist or referral to an outside psychiatric provider.

After an initial evaluation for medication, the staff psychiatrist will help you manage your medication(s) and monitor your progress during follow-up appointments. The psychiatrist may refer you for concurrent counseling and will consult with counselors and medical providers in our center, as needed.

Psychiatric services are limited to 12 hours a week during the fall and spring semesters. New patients are taken until approximately six weeks prior to the end of each semester.
