John Parmelee


Lecturer of Hospitality Management & Assistant to the Dean

Mr. Parmelee grew up in Ithaca, New York, where he also earned his B.S. from the Cornell Hotel School at Cornell University. He then continued his education at Elmira College, where he earned his M.S. in Adult Education. Before coming to SUNY Plattsburgh, Mr. Parmelee was the general manager of Copperfield Inn, North Creek, New York. Prior to that he owned and managed a three hundred seat restaurant in Ithaca, New York. Additionally, he was the assistant director of operations of a three hundred room resort in Aruba.

In his spare time, Mr. Parmelee enjoys playing tennis, spending time with his children, participating in outdoor activities, and traveling. Currently, Mr. Parmelee teaches Hospitality Financial Management, Lodging Operations Management, Field Experience, and restaurant operations labs in Samuel D’s.
