Dr. Sabah Bushaj
Associate Professor of Business Analytics
Dr. Sabah Bushaj is an Associate Professor of Business Analytics at SUNY Plattsburgh. He specializes in operations research, business analytics and data-driven decision-making under uncertainty. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where his research focused on multistage stochastic optimization and reinforcement learning for invasive species management and epidemic control.
His research combines stochastic optimization, simulation, machine learning, and predictive analytics to address complex decision-making problems, with a primary emphasis on public health. His work has examined infectious disease surveillance and control, vaccine and resource allocation, environmental health threats and other population-level decision problems.
Before entering academia, Dr. Bushaj worked as an SAP Developer and SAP Consultant in enterprise information systems and data management. He also worked as a data science intern in natural language processing at Novartis Oncology.
At SUNY Plattsburgh, he teaches business analytics, predictive analytics, optimization, simulation and mathematical modeling, with an emphasis on practical and reproducible analytics applied to real-world decision problems.
His scholarly work has appeared in journals including IISE Transactions, Annals of Operations Research, and the European Journal of Operational Research, and he has presented his research at professional conferences, including the INFORMS Annual Meeting.
