Transfer Scholarship & Grant
If you transfer directly to SUNY Plattsburgh from an eligible institution, you could receive a transfer scholarship or grant.
About Transfer Scholarships & Grants
Transfer students may be eligible for a financial award of $1,000 to $2,000, deducted from non-tuition educational costs during the first year only (i.e., first two semesters). Scholarships are awarded on academic merit and you must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale based on coursework taken at all previously attended colleges. Transfer grants are awarded to transfer students who are not eligible for a transfer scholarship and have financial need (an EFC under 15,000) as calculated on your FAFSA for the first term of enrollment.
Eligibility for Transfer Scholarships & Grants
Eligibility is determined through the admission process. Applicants to our nursing programs and to our exclusively online academic programs, are not eligible. To be eligible, you will:
- Transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh and enroll at SUNY Plattsburgh for the first time.
- Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other eligible non-citizen who pays the in-state tuition rate.
- Pay a $250 admissions deposit to enroll as a transfer student.
- Attend full-time at SUNY Plattsburgh’s main campus beginning in August 2023, or January 2024, taking 12 or more credits.
Note — If you transfer between 1 and 23 credits of post-secondary coursework or apply as an EOP transfer student, you are evaluated for first-year scholarships and grants before being considered for transfer scholarship levels.
Students who need to withdraw may maintain eligibility under certain circumstances.
