Internships in Journalism & Public Relations
Get On-the-Job Experience
All our students complete at least three credits of internship experience, which is essential for hands-on, practical experience in landing your first job. Internships provide additional skills, networking opportunities and can even lead directly to job placement. Internships are available locally, nationally or internationally.
- Internships on and off campus are competitive. We suggest you begin the application process early during the semester prior to the internship.
- Start by doing your research. Learn about the organizations that you are interested in working with and discuss these possibilities with your internship adviser prior to submitting your internship application.
- Each site may have its own requirements, including applications, interviews and even fees.
Journalism Internship Opportunities
We encourage journalism students to plan multiple internships, gaining a variety of experiences. Although many students seek out internships in traditional media organizations, you may also work in online media or doing communications and social media inside large companies or non-profit organizations.
Public Relations Internship Opportunities
Start by doing your research. Learn about the organizations that you are interested in working with and discuss these possibilities with your internship adviser prior to submitting your internship application.
Below, you’ll find a list of sites with which the college already partners. You may also suggest an organization you do not see on the list.
