Cardinal Cash is SUNY Plattsburgh’s exclusive debit account accessed through our college ID cards. The account is prepaid and allows our campus community to shop or dine off campus with our partner merchants. Cardinal Cash is operated through College Auxiliary Services (CAS).

Becoming a Cardinal Cash Merchant

How Does It Work?
1. A SUNY Plattsburgh ID card holder requests to make a purchase at your business with Cardinal Cash
2. You check the photo ID for verification
3. You process the transaction on a free, web-based reader or purchase a stand-alone reader from our technical support team.
4. You print a receipt for the customer’s signature
5. You receive your funds through a weekly ACH deposit, less a 5% processing fee
How Do I Sign Up?
1. Access and submit your Cardinal Cash Application.
2. CAS will review and respond to your application.
3. If accepted, you will receive an email to complete the registration process, with information about the card reader options.
4. You will choose a card reader that works best for your business:
  1. Web Reader — No cost
  2. PAX A80 Reader — $600
5. Email [email protected] to receive our business form with banking details. Then complete and return to us via email.
6. Receive and proudly display the “Cardinal Cash Accepted Here” decal in your store window!
7. That’s it, you’re a Cardinal Cash merchant!
Disclaimer: CAS has the sole authority to decide which merchants may accept Cardinal Cash at their establishment. Acceptance to the program is not guaranteed. Participation in the Cardinal Cash Program should not be construed as a guarantee of additional sales. Organizations and businesses that primarily focus on and sell prohibited purchases will not be approved as partner merchants. Additionally, organizations or businesses that are multilevel marketing or direct sales-based will not be approved.

Prohibited Purchases:
- Alcoholic beverages
- Tobacco, e-cigarette or vaping products
- Lottery tickets
- Firearms, knives or other weapon-like items
- Obscene materials
- Gift certificates
- Tattoos
- Items that could be construed as drug paraphernalia
- Items sold by a multilevel marketing organization
