He later spent two years practicing counterinsurgency in Mogadishu, Somalia, where he managed a team of highly experienced special operations and law enforcement experts focused on training and mentoring Somali special operations police officers to conduct counterterrorism operations against Al‐Shabaab and ISIS members.

Troy has lectured and conducted workshops on intelligence, counterinsurgency, and rule of law in East Africa, Afghanistan, and Europe for international, military, and humanitarian-based organizations.

When he is not working, Troy enjoys living a “quiet life” in northern New York, spending his time with his wife and four children skiing, hiking, boating, traveling or seeking other adventures.
