Fieldwork

Learn in the field — locally or abroad

Students with a desire for first-hand experience in archaeology are encouraged to seek out a field course that best coincides with their interests. Our students have taken summer field courses at other institutions in the U.S., Peru, and Ecuador, and had the academic credit transferred to SUNY Plattsburgh.

World-Wide Opportunities

Get first-hand experience with the world’s cultural and ethnic diversity and heritage. You will have access to a wide variety of summer and semester-abroad opportunities.

Our faculty, as advisors, assist students in exploring and pursuing such options, whether it be archaeological field study abroad, an ethnographic field school in the southwest or a semester at a university in a country such as Greece or Chile.
