English Language Learning

The Learning Center will help you improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in order to achieve your academic goals.

Learn More than Just English

Through courses, workshops and tutoring, you will learn a lot more than English language skills. Instructors help you improve your study skills and understand American culture while you adjust to college life in the U.S. In addition, you will gain confidence speaking American English.

Personalized Support

Our English language support specialist will create a plan just for you, combining courses and activities designed to strengthen your English language skills with content courses in your area of interest. Most students take English language learner (ELL) courses for one or two semesters depending on their English proficiency. Even after completing ELL courses you will still have access to support services.

You can expect:

  • Qualified instructors — Our instructors are talented and highly qualified in ELL instruction
  • Small classes — With only 5–15 students per class, you get many chances to practice your language skills
  • Cultural adjustment — We help you adapt to life in the U.S. through discussion and activities
  • Conversation practice — You will practice one-on-one speaking and listening with American students
  • Earn academic credit — Advanced ELL courses count toward your degree

A lot of learning takes place outside of the classroom, too!  You can join a conversation program with American students and get free tutoring and academic support.
