  • 4.0 Policy

    Employees at SUNY Plattsburgh affirm their responsibility for following the
    Code of Ethics, acting with integrity and professionalism in all work related activities. Public Officers Law Section 74 (the "Code of Ethics") in New York prohibits state officers and employees from using their official position, authority, or confidential information to secure unwarranted privileges or benefits for themselves or others. It establishes standards to prevent both actual and apparent conflicts of interest.

    The Code of Ethics’ guiding principles include;

    • Impartiality
    • Confidentiality
    • Stewardship of State Resources Avoiding Financial Conflicts
    • Avoiding Inappropriate Business with the State
    • Avoiding Financial Conflicts
    • Adhering to Integrity Standard 

    In addition, Teaching Faculty are guided by the ethical standards of their disciplines and by the American Association of University Professors Statement on Professional Ethics
