Transfer credit will not be accepted to replace the program’s field practicum sequences
and the accompanying practice courses. All transfer credit determinations will be
made by the admissions committee in consultation with the program director, and will
be based on transcripts and syllabi review. Students transferring in elective courses
will be counseled by their advisor about the possible implications for later licensure
if these courses do not meet the State’s definition of clinical coursework.
The Transfer Credits for Graduate Applicants form must be on file in the office before
any transfer credit will be awarded. This form should be used to obtain approval for
courses taken elsewhere prior to matriculation at SUNY Plattsburgh, course description(s)
or course syllabi must accompany this form. See the Graduate Study Information section of the university catalog for more information on transfer credit and time
limitations.
Students who are already matriculated at SUNY Plattsburgh must obtain approval prior
to taking courses hosted at another institution in order to evaluate transferability
and applicability to degree requirements. To seek approval, complete the Cross-Registration and Off-Campus Study Approval Form.
In accordance with CSWE standards the program does not grant social work course credit
for life experience or previous work experience.
