Radiance Fellowship

A group of cardinals is called a radiance. Just as a radiance of cardinals is more successful when working together, our graduate students thrive by contributing to the SUNY Plattsburgh community. Graduate students here play a vital role, acting as mentors and role models for undergraduates, while also supporting various academic and administrative departments.

The Radiance Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for graduate students to experience the benefits of on-campus graduate student housing at a 50-100% discount on a single residence hall room. In addition, fellows earn an hourly wage of $15 filling a 10-20 hour per week position within the athletics and recreation department.

The 2024–25 Radiance Fellowship application is expected to open in late fall 2024, with an annual deadline of February 15, 2025.

How to Apply for Radiance Fellowships

  • Complete the SUNY Plattsburgh Radiance Fellowship Application, including a cover letter, resume and contact information for three references
  • Ensure that you are matriculated in a graduate program for the period of the fellowship
  • Be selected for an interview and offered the position by the hiring department

Eligibility

  • Full-time SUNY Plattsburgh student enrolled in a master’s or graduate certificate program (12+ credit hours). Graduate fellows can be enrolled in main campus or online programs, but must reside on campus and be able to fulfill their work obligation on the main campus in Plattsburgh. 
  • Students must maintain good academic standing
  • Fellowships are open to new graduate students, as well as continuing 
  • Students may not receive a Radiance Fellowship in addition to a graduate assistantship or work-study fellowship

Additional Information

  • Fellows receive a paycheck every two weeks
  • Not all fellowships are available every year
  • Applications are reviewed by the department offering the fellowship; the department will be in touch should they wish to schedule an interview
