Radiance Fellowship

A group of cardinals is called a radiance. When looking for food, a radiance searching collectively is far more successful than a single cardinal or a pair. Graduate students are an essential component of SUNY Plattsburgh’s residential community. They serve as mentors and role models for undergraduate students and provide support to a variety of academic and administrative departments.

The Radiance Fellowship is a new opportunity for graduate students to work within the athletics and recreation department — athletics communication, fitness center, recreation — in exchange for a 50-100% discount on a single residence hall room, as well as an hourly wage of $15. Radiance fellows work 10 or 20 hours per week.

The 2024–25 Radiance Fellowship Application is now open. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2024.

How to Apply for Radiance Fellowships

  • Complete the SUNY Plattsburgh Radiance Fellowship Application, including a cover letter, resume and contact information for three references
  • Ensure that you are matriculated in a graduate program for the period of the fellowship
  • Be selected for an interview and offered the position by the hiring department

Eligibility

  • Full-time SUNY Plattsburgh student enrolled in a master’s or graduate certificate program (12+ credit hours). Graduate fellows can be enrolled in main campus or online programs, but must reside on campus and be able to fulfill their work obligation on the main campus in Plattsburgh. 
  • Students must maintain good academic standing
  • Fellowships are open to new graduate students, as well as continuing 
  • Students may not receive a Radiance Fellowship in addition to a graduate assistantship or work-study fellowship

Additional Information

  • Fellows receive a paycheck every two weeks
  • Not all fellowships are available every year
  • Applications are reviewed by the department offering the fellowship; the department will be in touch should they wish to schedule an interview
