Dr. Aybike Mutluoglu joined the School of Business and Economics at SUNY Plattsburgh
as an assistant professor of marketing in Fall 2025. She was previously a Postdoctoral
Fellow in Marketing at Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business. Prior to her
postdoctoral appointment, she completed her Ph.D. at Smith, defending her dissertation
in Summer 2024.
Originally from Turkey, Dr. Mutluoglu moved to Canada to pursue her doctoral studies.
Before that, she lived in Istanbul, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in management
and a master’s degree in psychology.
Her research interests lie in the areas of consumer behavior and social psychology,
and she uses experimental methods to investigate her research questions. She explores
topics such as the psychology of money, financial decision-making, gendered cognition,
consumer–brand relationships, advertising and persuasion, sustainability, and consumer
well-being. Her work has been presented at leading international conferences, including
the Association for Consumer Research (ACR), the European Association for Consumer Research (EACR), and the Society for Consumer Psychology (SCP). She also recently published in Psychology & Marketing.
With respect to teaching, Dr. Mutluoglu has taught Consumer Behavior, Principles of
Marketing, and Business for Good (guest lecturer). At SUNY Plattsburgh, she will be
teaching Consumer Behavior and Principles of Advertising beginning in Fall 2025.
