Margaret Swick

ADJUNCT LECTURER OF THEATRE

Margaret Swick is a SUNY Plattsburgh graduate (class of ’13). Once she was out of school she set her sights on developing her professional career within the entertainment industry. After a year of freelancing in Manhattan and downstate New York she returned to Plattsburgh to take advantage of opportunities in the local area. Back in the North Country she quickly found a place in a number of theatres including the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, the Depot Theatre, The Strand Center, and The Flynn Center. After a year of freelancing she joined IATSE Local 919 in the state of Vermont and became a Journeyman in 2015. Through IATSE she continues to work at the Flynn as an electrician and board operator for the lighting department. In the summers she heads to Westport, N.Y. to work at the Depot Theatre where she is the technical director, lighting designer and master electrician.

When she‘s not working shows Margaret enjoys hiking at local trails and painting miniatures competitively. She is also an avid gamer and reader. Alongside her career and hobbies, she has picked up a few design credits on the SUNY Plattsburgh stage including being the ALD for Oklahoma and the lighting designer for Into The Woods.

Margaret is very excited to be starting this next chapter of her career by teaching her first class, production leadership.
