Annie Stoltie

Adjunct Lecturer in Journalism & Public Relations

I’ve worked in the magazine industry for more than 25 years, first in the editorial department at Good Housekeeping magazine, later heading north from New York City to the Adirondack Park, where I’m editor-in-chief and co-publisher of Adirondack Life magazine. I’ve written and edited hundreds of stories for Adirondack Life, named the International Regional Magazine Association’s 2023 Magazine of the Year. I’m also a freelance writer, whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Slate, Newsweek, Forbes and other publications, and I co-authored the guidebook Adirondack: A Great Destination, published by W. W. Norton.

I’ve had the honor of sharing what I know about writing and editing to students at SUNY Potsdam, where I was Writer in Residence from 2016 to 2019. I’ve also instructed workshops for the Adirondack Center for Writing and taught creative writing at the Ray Brook Federal Correctional Institution. I’m currently on the board of directors of the International Regional Magazine Association and am a judge for the American Society of Magazine Editors’ National Magazine Awards, based at Columbia University.
