I get to talk about books for a living!
I love books. They expand my imagination. They open my eyes to ways of life different from my own. They console and challenge me; they make me laugh and cry.
My hope is you learn to appreciate books even more after taking my courses. What do I want you to come away from my class with? I want you to develop a greater understanding of how words work. I want you to see how literature comes from — and impacts — culture.
Some of my favorite courses are Victorian Fantasy (Dracula!), Children’s Literature and Shakespeare. I love works that are bizarre, playful and thought-provoking.
I also lead students on the annual trip to the Stratford Festival in my native land of Canada.
