Ali Della Bitta


Department Chair & Associate Professor of Art

Ali Della Bitta received her M.F.A. from Purchase College in New York in 2007 and her B.F.A. from University of North Carolina Greensboro in 2003. She currently resides in New York where she is the associate professor of ceramics at SUNY Plattsburgh. She joined the faculty of SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall of 2012.

Her work includes a wide range of materials and scale, from ephemeral sculpture and installation to large-scale permanent outdoor commissions. Della Bitta has had her sculpture and installation art featured both nationally and internationally. She has collaborated with Associate Professor Drew Goerlitz on three national public art commissions, and has exhibited her work during the Venice Biennale and Art Basel. She is currently represented by art-st-urban in St. Urban, Switzerland.

Della Bitta teaches all levels of ceramics. She strives to make the ceramics studio a safe and exciting space in which her students can learn. She believes it is important to have a studio that is interactive, interdisciplinary, collaborative, and promotes the creative experience.
