Parking Lot Designations & Restricted Areas


As outlined in Traffic, Parking Regulations — Part 565  Plattsburgh, all campus parking lots are restricted by designation (faculty/staff, off-campus student, on-campus student, timed) during business hours, unless designated “open to the public” for a campus event.

Hours


Campus Business Hours

  • Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

After Business Hours

  • Lots are unrestricted to properly registered vehicles, except when restricted “at all times” (24/7) or when restricted midnight to 6 a.m.

Visitors and vendors (service and supply only) may park a properly registered vehicle in any space in any lot while conducting business, as prescribed on the hang tag, except in lots restricting parking “at all times” or “midnight to 6 a.m.”

Notes & Definitions


Restricted Parking

Parking is restricted by the terms and conditions set forth below:

  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. lots restrict parking to registered vehicles as designated
  • After 5 p.m., lot designations lift for registered vehicles, except lots that remain faculty/staff 24/7
  • Select lots prohibit parking midnight through 6 a.m.
  • Time restricted lots and spaces limit parking to the specified term and prohibit parking from midnight to 6 a.m.
  • Open lots at the Field House allow permit-free parking from dawn to dusk and during special campus events

Reserved Parking

Parking is reserved for authorized vehicles upon the proper display of a ’special use’ tag as designated:

  • Reserved parking is restricted to parking for people with disabilities, docents, etc. as outlined in the Special Parking Privileges for Qualifying Individuals.
  • Bus stops allow stopping only to transport people (driver must remain with vehicle)
  • Loading zones allow temporary parking to deliver goods (flashers required) for term posted (maximum 15 minutes, if unposted)
  • Restricted parking areas (i.e., the podium) restrict parking to authorized vehicles with special use permits and state vehicles
  • Access lanes (i.e., bike lane and crosswalk) prohibit parking due to the safety hazard
  • Access roadways (i.e., Kent Roadway and Tower Way) prohibit parking due to safety hazard
  • Laydown areas restrict parking to contractor vehicles as contracted and authorized by facilities
  • Any parking area outside of two defined white lines is a line violation
