Bioinformatics Minors


Bioinformatics has helped in identification of genetic roots of some diseases and in developing relevant pharmaceuticals. Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary subject, involving biology, computer science, mathematics and statistics.

What Will I Learn?


Bioinformatics is concerned with developing methodology, algorithms and software for processing biological data. This includes analysis of DNA sequence and protein structure prediction.

What is Unique About Our Programs?


SUNY Plattsburgh offers two versions of the minor: one for biology majors and one for computer science majors.
