SUNY Plattsburgh to Honor Victims of Sept. 11
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Sept. 1, 2009) - A memorial service in remembrance of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, will be held at SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday, Sept. 11, at noon by the pond next to Hawkins Hall.
The ceremony will feature the music of SUNY Plattsburgh's Gospel Choir and remarks by Student Association President Lindsay Lyons and Dr. Becky Kasper. Steven Booth, executive vice president of the college's Student Association, will preside, with Jackie Robertin, campus minister at the Newman Center, and Tim Atwater, Protestant campus minister, leading attendees in prayer.
The service, which is open to the public, will be held at the site of a memorial honoring two SUNY Plattsburgh alumni who perished in the collapse of the World Trade Center. Robert Sutcliffe was a 1984 graduate and worked as a broker for Harvey, Young and Yurman. William Erwin, a 1992 graduate, was a broker from Cantor Fitzgerald.
