SUNY Plattsburgh to Hold 9/11 Memorial Service


PLATTSBURGH, NY (September 5, 2007) - Singing, speeches, and prayers will be part of a special memorial service to remember those who died on September 11.

The SUNY Plattsburgh community will hold a memorial service on Tuesday, September 11, at 12:15 p.m., to pay tribute to those that lost their lives and to recognize the anniversary of the attack on six years ago.

The event will be held near a permanent memorial on the southwest side of Hawkins Hall pond and be emceed by Executive Vice President of the Student Association Jake Avery. Featured speakers include Student Association President Kim Garrison and Dr. Jonathan Slater, Associate Professor of Communications. Other students will read prayers during the ceremony and the SUNY Plattsburgh Gospel Choir will perform.

Members of the SUNY Plattsburgh community gather each year to remember this tragic event in our nation's history and to memorialize those who died including two alumni of the College who perished in the attack.

The College welcomes the public to attend this special event.
