SUNY Plattsburgh Fraternity is Scaring for a Cause
PLATTSBURGH (Oct. 22, 2009) -- Screams will likely be heard coming from the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity house as the brothers raise money for the American Cancer Society with their annual haunted house.
The haunted house will take place at 147 Brinkerhoff St. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The American Cancer Society's cause is close to the hearts of the Alpha Chi Rho brothers, who lost alumnus Eric Murdy to brain cancer in 2008 at the age of 27.
"My brothers and I have seen cancer not only affect family members, but one of our own brothers. We hope, by doing this event, we will raise awareness and money for cancer research," said Matthew Flood, president of Alpha Chi Rho fraternity. "Every year we raise hundreds of dollars for the American Cancer Society, and we aim to raise up to a thousand this year."
Admission is $3, and all of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society
in memory Murdy. For more information, contact Flood at 845-300-7939.
