Sodexho Campus Services Pledges Gift


PLATTSBURGH, NY__Sodexho Campus Services has pledged a gift of $250,000 to support students attending the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh.

"On behalf of the Plattsburgh College Foundation, the SUNY Plattsburgh faculty, staff and especially its students, I'd like to thank Sodexho Campus Services for their unwavering support to our campus," said Dr. John Ettling, president of SUNY Plattsburgh. "This gift will help support student scholarships as well as other campus priorities. Thank you, Sodexho, for all that you do in support of SUNY Plattsburgh."

Mark Marvel, district manager for Sodexho Campus Services, said that the company has built itself on the values of partnerships like the one with SUNY Plattsburgh.

"At Sodexho Campus Services, we value the partnership we've built over the years with SUNY Plattsburgh," said Marvel. "This gift is a way of thanking the campus and to show how we feel about this partnership. We're investing back into the campus."

The first installment of $125,000 will be presented to the Plattsburgh College Foundation this September. The second installment will be given in September 2007.

Sodexho Campus Services has been a part of the SUNY Plattsburgh campus for nearly 30 years, providing food services for students, faculty, staff and the community. With endowed funds of more than $10 million, the Foundation is committed to raising dollars for student scholarships, institutional and faculty/staff enrichment and innovative projects.

Trent L. Trahan, a 1970 alumnus of SUNY Plattsburgh and president of Champlain Telephone Company and PrimeLink, is Foundation president.

Mark J. Rogers, a 1972 SUNY Plattsburgh graduate and partner in the law firm of Lewis, Rogers and Meconi in Plattsburgh, is first vice president; Robert C. Smith, owner of Nine Platt Hospitality Group in Plattsburgh, is second vice president; Robert Vincent, managing director of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Rouses Point, serves as secretary; and Daniel J. Burke, a 1974 SUNY Plattsburgh graduate and president and chief executive officer of TD Banknorth in Queensbury, N.Y., is treasurer.
