Alumni, Friends Invited to Give Back on #GivingTuesday Nov. 28

PlattsGive

SUNY Plattsburgh will once again participate in the tradition of Giving Tuesday, asking alumni and friends to make a gift to the Plattsburgh College Foundation in support of student success the day following Cyber Monday Nov. 28.

#GivingTuesday was created more than 10 years ago when Chicago’s now-defunct Mary-Arrchie Theater Company urged shoppers to donate after their Cyber Monday shopping. The 92nd Street Y in New York City picked up the effort the next year, working in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, hoping to harness the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage generosity on a global level following the commercialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Locally, SUNY Plattsburgh is hoping its network of alumni, friends and family will express gratitude for its Plattsburgh experience with a gift to the Plattsburgh College Foundation during #PlattsGive on that Tuesday.

A nonprofit organization, the Plattsburgh College Foundation transforms gifts such as those brought in during the #PlattsGive campaign into life-changing experiences for students through scholarships, internships, career support and more.

This year, SUNY Plattsburgh is looking to inspire 150 people to #PlattsGive by day’s end Tuesday, Nov. 28. According to Paula Bachman, director of annual giving, “Every gift, regardless of its size, counts toward this participation goal and may be designated to the Plattsburgh Fund — the university’s greatest need — or to a particular department, program or scholarship.”

For more information and to participate in #PlattsGive, contact Bachman at 518-564-2398, email [email protected] or visit the #PlattsGive 2023 page.
