Science Talks Return to 30 City Feb. 6


Science @30City returns for its spring season of public science talks featuring SUNY Plattsburgh science faculty.

Sessions are held at 30 City Hall Place, are free and open to the public and run the gamut of topics, from “Death and Darwin: Why Evolution Does Not Save Us from Aging” with Dr. Joel Parker, associate professor of biological sciences, to “Wine and Antioxidants: Facts and ‘Alternative Facts’” with Dr. Karina Ckless, associate professor of chemistry. 

Most sessions are on the first and third Mondays of the month. All begin at 5:30 p.m. The first three talks of the spring semester will be:

“Death and Darwin: Why Evolution Does Not Save Us From Aging” with Dr. Joel Parker, associate professor of biology, Monday, Feb. 6

“Psychedelics: Not Your Father’s Hallucinations: The New Neuroscience of Psychedelics and Their Use in the Treatment of Psychological Disorders,” with Dr. Don Slish, professor of biological sciences, Monday, Feb. 20

“Wine and Antioxidants: Facts and ‘Alternative Facts’: A Critical Evaluation of the Health Claims Around Antioxidants With Special Emphasis on Wine and Diet” with Dr. Karina Ckless, associate professor of chemistry, Monday, March 6
