Music Department Presents Chamber Music Concert
The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Music will host “An Evening of Chamber Music” Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Krinovitz Recital Hall, Hawkins Hall.
The ensemble is comprised of violinist Marilyn Reynolds, adjunct lecturer of music, guest violinist Patricia McCarty and members of the chamber ensemble Trillium.
The program includes a wide variety of pieces, using instruments from the Baroque, a style of Western art music, to the contemporary.
“With three string players, an oboe and a piano, the sky’s the limit,” said Reynolds. “We’re playing at least one masterwork, Mozart’s ‘Oboe Quartet,’ and some fascinating works that are less well-known, including pieces by Turina, Seco de Arpe and others. It’s a very lively program indeed.”
More than 30 annual music events on campus feature student ensembles, guest artists and student/faculty recitals.
This event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Student Association at SUNY Plattsburgh and the music department.
