Guitar Festival Concert Oct. 28
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ From classical to contemporary music, the Guitar Festival Concert at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh will showcase the guitar in a variety of musical styles. The concert, hosted by the Music Department, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hyman and Frances Krinovitz Recital Hall in Hawkins Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature Ted Mann who will perform compositions from the 1500's on the vihuela, an ancestor of the modern guitar. Mann will also perform his own compositions for electric guitar. Michael Fratino, adjunct lecturer of music, will perform contemporary classical acoustic guitar compositions as well as his own works for electric guitar. William Pfaff, assistant professor of music, and Whitman Brown will perform composed works for electric guitar as well as free improvisation.
