Distinguished Fulbright Chair Lecture Looks at Twitter and Politics in U.S., Canada
A Canadian historian who studies memory-related political issues will deliver the spring 2018 Distinguished Fulbright Chair in Quebec Studies Lecture Monday, March 26 at 3:30 p.m. in the Krinovitz Recital Hall, Hawkins Hall.
Dr. Alexandre Turgeon, of Saint-Georges-de-Beauce in Quebec, about an hour southeast of Quebec City, has done research on the links between history, collective memory and social media and will discuss those links in his talk, “’Did You See His Latest Tweet?’: How Twitter is Changing Politics in Quebec and the United States, 2014-2018.”
Turgeon explains on his website that as new technologies play a bigger role in our lives, “it is more important than ever to examine how they are transforming and transcending our relationship to our world in the past, present and future.”
