Academic records must be submitted in English or include a certified English translation. If you need assistance translating your documents into English, we recommend using the American Translators Association to find a certified translator.

• For the purpose of admission review, unofficial academic transcripts, mark sheets, grade reports, diplomas or certificates, national standardized examination results, or other academic coursework may be submitted.
• If applicable, acceptance and enrollment will be conditional until official documents confirming the results are received.
• Replaceable documents such as transcripts which are submitted for admission review become the property of SUNY Plattsburgh and cannot be returned to you or sent to another college or university.

All international applicants are required to submit proof of English proficiency. The most common way of demonstrating proficiency is through standardized exams:

• TOEFL
• IELTS
• SAT
• ACT

Applicants who have taken these exams should request that an official score report be sent from the test administrator to SUNY Plattsburgh.

Other acceptable ways of demonstrating English proficiency on your application for admission are the following:

Upload proof of English proficiency

Under current federal immigration regulations, all international applicants must provide evidence of sufficient funds available for their studies. We require a current bank statement (dated within the past two months) on bank letterhead, with the name of the account holder and currency clearly indicated in English. An Affidavit of Support cannot be used in place of a bank statement. If you need assistance translating your documents into English, we recommend using the American Translators Association to find a certified translator. If the family name (surname) of the account holder on the financial statement is different from your own, you will need to provide a letter written in English from that individual stating his or her relationship to you and indicating their intention to financially support your education.

Your application for admission to SUNY Plattsburgh will be reviewed once it is complete. A complete application includes receipt of a non-refundable $50 USD application fee. If you apply using the Common Application or the SUNY Application, you will pay this fee in those portals. If you apply using the International Undergraduate Application, you will pay this fee in your admissions portal. Login to your portal to confirm that your fee was received.

Any international applicant who has completed academic studies at another college or university may be considered a transfer applicant to SUNY Plattsburgh. Transfer students use the same application as first-year students, but their admission requirements and scholarships are different.
