Megan LaLonde-Pittman
Lecturer of Counselor Education
Megan LaLonde-Pittman is a licensed professional counselor and registered nurse with experience both clinically and medically in acute care, residential and outpatient facilities working with a range of populations from adolescents to geriatric. Clinically working with clients on topics from trauma, depression, anxiety, substance use, self-identity, as well as grief and loss. Clinically, her goal is to provide the space for clients to share and process their story, while working through the disruptions in their lives — putting them back in control of their personal narrative. Holding firmly to the quote by Lisa Olivera, “Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you, doesn’t mean you can, should or need to do it alone.” Megan is also expanding her clinical interests into animal assisted therapy, currently working towards her EAGALA certification.
Megan specializes in Integrated Behavioral Health and the occupational mental health needs of medical professionals, specifically within the inpatient acute care setting. She currently serves, and has a history serving, as a clinician, nurse, researcher, supervisor and leader in various Integrated Behavioral Health settings. Megan’s clinical interests regard the experience of medical trauma for both patient, medical and clinical professionals, and the use of therapy in acute and primary care settings towards holistic wellness. Her research interests include medical trauma for patients and professionals, the counseling professional identity within hospital settings, and the personal and organizational factors related to behavioral health integration in medical settings. Her research focus expands to many other areas of interest including the wellbeing of out-of-state students, and individual self-expression with her dissertation being a consensual qualitative research study exploring the professional experiences of visibly tattooed counselors.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys quilting, painting, playing with her pugs, and is looking forward to establishing her new home in the Adirondacks with her husband.
