Meet our Students
Anny Nelzy, Class of ’26
- Major: Biomedical Sciences
ACE has had a tremendous impact on both my academic and personal journey. No matter what challenges I face in my personal life, the ACE staff is always there to support me and help me get back on track so I can stay focused on my goals. The tutoring services have helped hold me accountable, strengthened my academic performance, and encouraged me to take advantage of every resource available to me. I am incredibly grateful for the support, guidance, and encouragement I have received through ACE, and I truly love being part of the program.
Originally born in Haiti, I moved to the United States with my family when I was three years old and have since called Brooklyn, N.Y. my hometown. My experiences growing up have shaped my passion for science, learning and making a positive impact in my community.
I aspire to pursue a career in biomedical science, with a particular interest in studying how infectious diseases affect human-host interactions. As technology continues to transform healthcare and research, I also hope to contribute to the growing AI and technology sector by helping ensure that machine learning models are informed by accurate, evidence-based scientific knowledge.
Joshua Severino, Class of ’26
- Major: Media Production
As a member of both TRIO and ACE, I greatly value the additional advising, monthly Cardinal Cash, and textbook support these programs provide. I am especially grateful for the encouragement, guidance, and opportunities offered through ACE and TRIO, which continue to motivate me to excel academically while remaining actively involved in campus life. These programs have played an important role in my success and have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in both New York City and Miami, I have developed a strong appreciation for diverse communities and the importance of giving back through service and leadership. My experiences have helped shape my commitment to supporting others and staying actively involved on campus.
At SUNY Plattsburgh, I am a student worker with the AOP office and the Cardinal Cupboard. I also serve as a programming advocate in housing, where I help plan engaging events that bring students together and foster a sense of community.
