SUNY Plattsburgh has just announced a new Master of Science in Education in Teaching and Learning.
The program, which recently garnered approval from both the State University of New York system and the New York State Education Department, is designed for strong educators who want to improve their teaching skills. It is open to those who have their initial certification in childhood education (grades 1-6), music, visual arts, biology, chemistry, earth science, English, French, mathematics, physics, social studies or Spanish.
Successful completion of this graduate program leads to recommendation for professional teacher certification. The program has been designed so it can be completed within a calendar year.
At the center are four core courses that allow teachers to focus on and build strength in the art of teaching using content-specific projects.
The program also allows teachers to tailor their own professional development, pursuing interests in instructional technology, literacy education, counseling, educational leadership and more.
