SUNY Plattsburgh Accreditation Reaffirmed by Middle States

PLATTSBURGH, NY (Jan. 11, 2008) - SUNY Plattsburgh has received accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education for the next five years.

The latest affirmation from Middle States comes after a lengthy campus-wide self-study and the development of an appropriate strategic plan that addressed the college's goals and objectives for programs and departments across campus.

"We are pleased that Middle States accepted our five-year report on the status of the college," said Dr. Robert Golden, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "These reports are a normal part of the 10-year regional accreditation review cycle. Middle States will visit SUNY Plattsburgh again in 2012 for our 10-year accreditation review. If we continue to make progress as we have in the last five years, we will be in good shape for 2012."

The Middle States Commission is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in what is called the middle-states region, including Delaware, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and several locations internationally. Plattsburgh State has been a member of the Middle States Commission since 1952.
