Pianist Louise Dionne to Present a Faculty Recital at SUNY Plattsburgh


SUNY Plattsburgh's Department of Music will present a faculty recital featuring pianist Louise Dionne 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, in Krinovitz Recital Hall, Hawkins Hall.

The program, “Concerto de Quebec and Czerny in Every Key,” will feature music composed by Mathieu, Czerny, Liszt, Chopin and Dionne. The recital is free and open to the public.

A member of the college’s music faculty since 2001, Dionne is the instructor of the group keyboard classes in the piano technology classroom. In addition to teaching, Dionne is an active performer here and abroad. Her annual faculty solo piano recitals include major piano works and, as in this concert, feature some of her own compositions.

In 2011, Dionne released a CD recorded at The Hit Factory Criteria Miami, formerly known as Atlantic Records. The compact disc bears the name of the featured Dionne piano composition, "Floating on Lake Champlain," composed in 2007. Dionne has taught a variety of levels and ages in the Plattsburgh area for more than 25 years Many of her former private piano students have gone on to music careers and formal study in music. Dionne holds a B.A. with a major in music and two minors in French and Spanish from SUNY Plattsburgh, and a master’s in music in piano performance with a Suzuki emphasis from Ithaca College. She did post graduate work in the Montréal area.

Dionne also enjoys figure skating and, in 2007, passed her U.S. Figure Skating Gold Adult Moves.
