Nine-day Wilderness First Responder Course Offered in January
The Wilderness First Responder course will be offered during SUNY Plattsburgh Winter Session Saturday, Jan. 14 through Saturday, Jan. 21 in Room 153B, Hawkins Hall, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Taught by Garrett Cooper, a SUNY Plattsburgh expeditionary studies graduate and owner of Feral Human Expeditions, the course includes CPR certification and covers topics such as patient assessment, splinting, wound care, cold and heat emergencies, burns, pharmacology and care of the C-spine.
All skills are taught in field exercises. Students participating have the opportunity to receive wilderness first responder certification upon completion.
