New Music Concert to Feature Composers, Performers from SUNY Colleges, Universities
The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Music will present a New Music and Culture Symposium Saturday, Oct.1, in E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
As part of this symposium, the college will host a new music concert featuring composers and performers from a variety of State University of New York campuses, starting at 7:30 p.m., with an informal pre-concert talk at 6:30 p.m.
The program will include music by seven living composers: Bill Pfaff of SUNY Plattsburgh; Max Lifchitz of SUNY Albany; Allyson Bellink, Suzanne Farrin, Laura Kaminsky and William Pearson of SUNY Purchase; and Perry Goldstein of SUNY Stony Brook.
Horn player Ann Ellsworth of SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Stony Brook; pianist Ellen Hwangbo of SUNY Stony Brook; clarinetist Marianne Gythfeldt of the University of Delaware; and baritone Drew Santini, a New York City resident will perform.
A repeat performance of the concert will take place at SUNY Stony Brook, Oct. 3.
