Faculty Scholarship, Academic Pursuits Highlighted at Celebration
More than 50 members of the campus community turned out in support of SUNY Plattsburgh’s faculty academic accomplishments at the annual Celebration of Scholarship reception Friday, Nov. 17 in Feinberg Library.
Faculty endeavors on display included books, journals, papers, poster presentations, and a unique display of 3-D digital photos of faculty and staff in 15th-century garb produced by John Locke, director, Technology-Enhanced Learning in library and information technology services, for his book, “Utopia Revisited."
College President John Ettling welcomed the diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators and students and introduced each of the four featured scholars, all of whom gave short presentations on their work:
•Dr. Karina Ckless, associate professor, chemistry
•Dr. Lise Heroux, distinguished service professor and chair, marketing and entrepreneurship
•Dr. Edward Sturman, associate professor, branch campus, Queensbury
•Dr. Yong Yu, associate professor, teacher education
The Celebration of Scholarship began 15 years ago as a way to recognize research, scholarship and creative works compiled by faculty during the previous year.
“These academic pursuits are highlighted and applauded,” Ettling said.
