Institute for Ethics in Public Life to Look at ‘What Just Happened?’ in 2026 Midterms

The Institute for Ethics in Public Life will host, “What Just Happened?,” a discussion
of the 2026 midterm election results with Dr. Maggie Martin, SUNY Plattsburgh assistant
professor of political science, Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 3:30 p.m. in Hawkins Hall 233.
While pre-election polling indicated the midterms were likely to have a good outcome for the Democratic Party, the election-night results exceeded expectations. Martin will discuss what led to the massive victory for Democrats and what the “Blue Tsunami” means — for Congress and its oversight of this administration up to and including possible impeachment of Trump and his administration officials, and for the American voting public.
Martin, who joined the political science department this fall, specializes in gender roles in American politics, political psychology, U.S. public opinion, voter behavior, and U.S. national government.
The discussion will also be available over Zoom at https://plattsburgh.zoom.us/j/85710874929.
