Botswana Psychologist to Visit SUNY Plattsburgh Campus
Mathews Okumbe, a senior psychologist at the Bamalete Lutheran Hospital in Ramotswa, Botswana, Africa, will be on campus for two weeks of lectures, talks and round-table discussions.
As the guest of SUNY Plattsburgh’s departments of psychology, social work and counselor education; the Honor’s Program; and the Institute for Ethics in Public Life, he will be on campus from March 30 through April 15.
He will hold an introductory lecture on Botswana March 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Cardinal Lounge, Angell College Center. He’ll also meet with faculty, staff and students to discuss a variety of topics, including mental health, cross-cultural issues related to mental health, and HIV/AIDS in Botswana.
